Absent-minded Sis!

Cancelled all meetings, rushed back to SG thinking of accompanying sis for Jacky's Around the World in 80 Days rescreening at MV. Arrived at her school to pick her up as planned, but couldn't see her. Mom was in the car, so worried as she went missing. After 15 minutes she called mom using the bus driver's hp, saying that she "accidentally" boarded the school bus :P So too bad, she's gotta learn to be more careful and mindful.

Yesterday received an email, Ms Chew was assigned as my supervisor for FYP, she's a nice and cute lecturer. She's in fact the only lecturer who took the trouble to encourage us to introduce ourselves during her class, after finding out that the 13 students did not know each other. Hope I'll have nice times being with her. God bless, Ms Chew, watzup...!

The Adventure of Mel (Meeting with Lana)

The condo where Jennifer resides in is located very far away from the main road. To walk from her place to a place where there are cabs and trains services, it takes around 15 minutes (based on Jennifer's pace - I often need to run to catch up with her).

When I was just about to leave the lobby of her condo, I saw this middle-aged woman walking very slowly (and I mean real slow coz it was a slope where normally people would take big steps). The weather wasn't that hot, but she was holding an umbrella. I would say that she looks fragile (although she's tall and big-boned). So I stopped my car, winded down the window and asked if she needed a lift (don't ask me why I did this, I don't know. I just thought it was no harm helping a fragile creature). To my surprise, she walked towards me defenselessly (we heard of crime cases everday, the most that I expect from a lady is to start screaming, running or even hitting my car with her umbrella) and said "you sure you can do that?" and so she entered my car. I happily introduced myself to her, and she returned the curteousy. Apparently she's a Russian citizen who's been here for 10 years, hired by the Malaysian government as an instructor to the KL gymnastic team.

I started driving down the path, towards the Bukit Jalil where she said she's heading. She started asking if I've got my licence for a long time, and how is the driving test in M'sia, so on and so forth. Then we came to a junction where I could do a U-turn and drop her at the station. She pointed to the front, and said "that's Carrefour, I'm going there" doesn't sound too harsh, but definitely doesn't sound like she's my "guest". Then, despite the fact that she said she's an instructor, a thought came to my mind, "what if she's not a good person?" that moment I started to freak out. Trying not to look too afraid, we kept on chatting till we reached Carrefour. Then I dropped her at the bus station outside, she expressed her gratefulness for the lift I offered her.

As I drove back to my apartment, I can't help asking myself, what was going on. I couldn't figure out. Now as I'm typing this experience, I think the problem's because I venture without analysing the lost that I may have to bear. This is the lesson learned today (I'm actually happy to be able to help project a good image of M'sian, on the other hand). Must make sure that I remember what happened today and be more precautious in the future. Thank God I'm safe and sound, am sure it's mom and dad's blessings...

Happy Meal! *_*

Knowing that my housemate prepared breakfast for me, I went home during lunch time before she starts calling to confirm if I'm too busy to eat :p (She's so caring isn't she. I'm really lucky.)Upon arrival at home, met with Jack, the young and handsome national badminton player! He's so cute so talkative so blunt yet so down-to-earth! Yeeha~! You should check out his pair of legs, ooh la la! Oh, he prepared the dessert for lunch. Sweetnya!!! *_^

Gonna share the joy with mom later, must make sure that sis hears this, she'll be so jealous :p Haha

Does AsiaWorks Really Work?

Invited by Mr Philip Leslie Cheah, mom and I attended a lil' AsiaWorks presentation of certificate to members who completed the Basic level yesterday. The speaker chaired a few activities, got to know Jessie, a lady who's pursuing her Master in Educational Psychology at UM. A graduate of Chinese Lit from China, Jessie was a teacher at an independant school for 4 years. She said she found the 40 hours Basic seminar very useful and aspiring, and she encourages me and thinks that I should join. Mom, at the same event, met with Angeline and Bryan. They told her their experiences and inspirations from the course after attending Basic. I've no further thought to it.

The problem is, "get to know" the inner me for RM1500 at this point of the time, and that I need to spare 40 hours for the course? I just had to tell her that I'm too busy. Someday, after started working, I would, I promise myself.

Buka Puasa Dinner at Hilton PJ was satisfactory though. Hilton PJ serves a wide variety of food!

Oh Mr Philip's youngest son, Jo, is a cool kid! He talks and walks and socialized with strangers (adults) so steadily and confidently, and he maneuvered the digital camera so well! Kids nowadays, smart, intelligent, impressive!

Time to Say Goodbye

Goodbye Mel. Yello Amanda! :)

Today MUSA Council 2004 had its last formal meeting, together with the new council. Met with the new Women's Officer, Amanda, finally. Matt Noel was right, she seems like a very capable successor. The meeting only lasted approx 3 hours, which is considered short compare to the usual 5 to 6 hours each meeting! Hehe...

Anyway I had a great time working with this council. This isn't the first time that I'm in a club/association's executive committee, but it's definitely the BEST bunch of people I've worked hand-in-hand with. They're fun, they're wild, they're caring, they're crazy, some are corny (maybe they've been sitting next to each other throughout the year, the corny juice flows naturally to next door neighbour!), some are at times annoying (when you want the meeting to end so dearly but these people are always blur and ask answered questions or are against most ideas :P) No matter what the case is, I believe all of us in the Council had enjoyed our times working together as a body.

Hereby to apologize if I've done anything wrongly or disrespected anyone in a way I didn't mean to. But most importantly, I'd like to express my gratitude to all of you, MUSA Council 2004. We shall meet again when we meet at get-togethers. All the best! God speed...

*A big load is off Mel's shoulders...*

Image Processing

Today Kim introduced image processing - very interesting yet complicated topic. This guy sounds experienced and knows his stuff! Impressed by his profile and his self-confidence, respect him for his professionalism.

Apparantly it's a double module. So hope I'll be able to (well, I better do!) understand all the concepts and algorithms of image processing completely.

... *Mel goes into prayer* ...

Shout Out - To Patricia with Appreciation

Bro's gf Pat always buy us cakes and snacks. Today she even came all the way to our place to prepare dinner and dine with us. Can't remember when's the last time I had home-cooked food, worse still, can't remember when's the last time I had a proper meal. It's worth my effort to drive back all the way from BJ to eat proper food instead of junks - so many varieties, so much food! Delicious dinner. Yummy yummy *pat pat tummy*!

Bravo Pat! Thanks for coming over, for cooking and for dining together. Keep up the good work!

Communication with the Hearing Impaireds'

It was a sunny day many years ago, I was waiting for bus after school. A deaf boy approached me for directions to his desired destination as printed on a business card that he showed me. I believe many people never come across such situations, it's ok. Start thinking about it now.

What would you do? Will you avoid them from far? Will you be angry with them or upset with yourself when you couldn't communicate with them? And how different do you think deaf people are from hearing people like many of us?

I asked mom, she said she never thought about situations like that, and that she wouldn't know how to response.

What did I do back then? I took out a piece of paper and wrote down whatever I wanted to say and showed him. He was very happy and grateful. Deaf people are smart, quick and kind, at least those whom I've met so far are so. They can make wonderful friends. How do I know? I must say that I think I'm lucky to have opportunities to befriend these wonderful souls.

So if you meet with deaf people one day, try your best to communicate with them. Write it down, or try to sign. Communicating with the mutes are more or less the same. Trust me, these people appreciate your effort in trying, even if you can't help much. Oh I also have a broucher on how to communicate with the blinds, just if you're interested...

Discard all stupid discreminations - gender, racial, religion wise, etc. Have love for all lives.

P/S Another thought of the day: We oughta respect ourselves before we could earn others' respect towards us.

Sign - Group Presentation Discussion

The meeting with my fellow Sign classmates, Sharon and Yoke Peng today at Gloria Jeans was definitely a fun and enjoyable one. We met to discuss the group presentation based on signs and visual-gesture communications (abbrev. VGC), which is due in two weeks' time. We agreed to do a storytelling on the fairy tale, The Frog Prince, and we are positive that we could manage it within 10 to 15 minutes. Of course we did modify the storyline. Had lots of fun during the discussion. As it always is with the ladies after each sign lang class at Studdels, Bangsar :)

My sis, Felicia tagged along as I'm the only guardian at home who's free to babysit her today. She certainly enjoyed her lunch there! Oh, GJ's Mint Choc Chiller's nice, reminds me of the choc mint drink I had in CoffeeExpress Club, Upper level of Kinokuniya, KLCC many years ago when bidding goodbye with my good pal Vic.

Rap It Up! - Music I Like.

I notice I like music pieces that starts with instruments play, like Hoobastank's The Reason, Shakira's Underneath Your Clothes, Alanis Morisette's Thank You, Pink's Don't Let Me Get Me, Marc Cohn's Walking In Memphis, Dixie Chicks' You Can't Hurry Love, Bap Kennedy's Moonlight Kiss (super fav - even my mom likes it!). Oh, and not to forget to mention, Blink 182, one of my favorites, and Norah Jones, not to be missed.

Hwei @ ng_double_o! What's your flavor?

Liked Black Eyed Peas' Where Is The Love and Let's Get It Started so much! But I'm sure these aren't the only nice rap songs lying around the records store racks. Am more receptive to rock and heavy metal music lately.

David! Wanna hear your voice here! Btw I truly appreciate your suggestion/offer, as it boosts my self-confidence. Thanks man! :) Oh if opportunity strikes, I'd like to see you spin discs! 've always wanna learn that...

AutoCAD and Engineers

Sara demonstrated the basic AutoCAD features to me. Seen dad's draughtsman draw designs using AutoCAD Release 12 many years ago, perhaps I was still very young then, so didn't think it was something (though come to think of it now, what the draghtsman did was way more complicated than what Sara demonstrated today) but I'm so impressed by the 3D rotate function of the application today! So clean and precise, cool! Thanks, Sara!

I think Engineering courses and Computer Science are similar in a way, in the sense that you've got to be able to have a pictorial of concepts, calculate angles, etc. But a big difference is Engineering involves a heavy load of designs, whereas CompSci programs and implements concepts. No matter what they are, how similar or how difference they are, these professions deserve my respect...

My ex-housemate Huan Wee who was an assistant manager in a software house, is staying with an Engineer (Monash grad btw) Chin Wei, warned me not to marry an Engineer though. Why? Coz CW always come home late (sometimes he stays in the office all night long), he's just so hardworking (or rather he has no choice if he doesn't wanna be retrenched :P)... Engineers, ever so professional huh. Respect! *punch chest* (those who knows Amil, I'm sure you're familiar with this action, haha!)

FYP Project Ideas

Cracking my head, thinking of suitable and feasible multimedia project to be developed in 32 weeks from now. Guys, blast me with your ideas!

Willie suggested:- 1. GPS tourist guide for a localised location, with real time explanation and images? Cool suggestion. Thanks Willie! :)

Willie suggested:- 2. Interactive restaurant experience.

Dad suggested:- 1. Conveyance belt system. Though there's such a system already, but it's a good idea to write my own.

Dad suggested:- 2. Mechanical parking system. This will involve the learning of AutoCAD, hmm, will consider. Thanks dad, I love ya!

Sara! You, yes, you! Suggest something! Don't say you've no idea, usually you're the brain of many evil and stupid things we do together! Ehehe >:)

The arrival of streamyx, finally...

The "snail-is-man's-best-friend" telekom men came to fix the line, now it's finally up and runnin', yay!
