All for You

Why did I detect loneliness in your voice?
Why couldn't I sense your happiness?
Why have I failed to connect with you?
Why did you sound depressed and pressured?
I have to know if you're doing ok.
I need to know that you're all well and fine!

Speak, damn it, talk to me!
I love you, you love me, and we both know.
Time and distance have us part.
But you have to trust me coz I'll to help you.
I'd do anything for you!
Stay with me, please!

I miss you so much.
So much that you made me cry.
Hold on, just hold on.
I promise I'll be there.
I'll be there soon.
Hang on, hold on for me, please, I beg you...

With lots of love, hugs and kisses.

Emotional Affairs

Not Just Sex

Sandra, 45, a teacher in New York, meets a "totally beguiling guy" in a similar field. He helps her with a project; they start e-mailing, then phoning, having long talks over drinks. Thing is, she has a boyfriend. He has a wife. They're not having sex. Are they having an affair?

Yes. It's an "emotional affair," or "accidental affair," says Peggy Vaughan of AskPeggy.com and author of The Monogamy Myth: A Personal Handbook for Dealing with Affairs (Newmarket, 2003). "Emotional affairs are most likely to affect the person who would never intend to cheat."

According to the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, 15 percent of wives and 25 percent of husbands have had extramarital sex. Add emotional affairs and other non-physical intimacy, and the numbers go up by 20 percent.

Many emotional affairs are a byproduct of increasingly intense and collegial workplace atmospheres. According to Bonnie Eaker Weil, PhD, author of Adultery: The Forgivable Sin: Healing the Inherited Patterns of Betrayal in Your Family (Birch Lane, 1993), over half of work friendships become something more.

"The stereotype is the VP of the corporation having a thing with the cute typist," says Shirley Glass, PhD, author of Not "Just Friends": Protect Your Relationship from Infidelity and Heal the Trauma of Betrayal (Free Press, 2002). "But now the bonds between men and women working together are based on much more: similar interests and social backgrounds, in a highly-charged atmosphere."

What's So Wrong?

Hey, we're not made of wood -- what's wrong with a crush? "I had a flirtation with a guy at the restaurant," says Gail, 30, a Boston bartender. "But it was part of the work environment, and No Touching was clearly the rule. Outside of work I didn't give him a second thought -- but the extra dose of feeling attractive actually helped my relationship with my boyfriend."

But No Touching doesn't always mean Harmless Flirting. "I had a close relationship with a married man: late-night calls, meaningful lunches, intense sharing," says Liza, 39, a social worker in Philadelphia. "A male friend said, 'If you're not having sex, there's nothing wrong with it.'"

Actually, say experts, there's plenty wrong.

"It doesn't matter that 'it could be worse,'" says Vaughan. "There's deception going on." That's the risk of a seemingly harmless affair: The more you rationalize that it's okay, the more it escalates, and the more you're compelled to hide. "You wind up depending on the other person more for daily peaks and perks, and that sucks the love away from you and your partner."

What's toxic about an emotional affair is exactly what distinguishes it from a fleeting, fun crush: secrecy. "The number one way to know if you're having an emotional affair is if you're hiding it from your partner," says Vaughan.

"When you 'end up' out to dinner sitting kitty-corner with that guy from work that you can't get out of your head, that's a date," Lana, 29, a Toronto attorney, says (from experience). "Saying you have a boyfriend doesn't count -- all he'll take from that is, 'Then why is she out with me?' You both know the illicitness makes it all the more exciting and tempting. And you know when you cross the line because it's that thing you'd never tell your boyfriend, that thing that would freak you out if you found out he did it."

In or Out?

Are you crossing the line? Answer these quick questions to assess if it's an emotional affair:

(Sources: Shirley Glass, author of Not "Just Friends" and Sharyn Wolf, author of How to Stay Lovers for Life: Discover a Marriage Counselor's Tricks of the Trade, Penguin, 1998)

1. Do you touch him in "legal" ways, like picking lint off his blazer?

2. Do you tell him more details of your day than you do your partner?

3. Do you talk with him more about your relationship than you do with your partner?

4. Does your partner have no idea how much time you spend with this guy?

5. Do you pay attention to how you look before you see him?

6. Do you think crush-like thoughts like, "He'd love this song!"?

7. Has one of you said, "I'm attracted to you but I would never act on it because I/you are attached"?

8. Would you feel uncomfortable if your partner saw a videotape of the time you spend with this person?

How many times did you answer "Yes"?

0-1: Friendship/harmless crush. 2-4: Slippery slope. Step back. 5 or more. 911! Emotional affair.

Fess Up

If you're on the slippery slope between fidelity and an emotional affair, it is possible -- and essential -- to move to firmer ground. "When I felt most tempted, I forced myself to wait, and the wild love feeling actually went away by itself," says Sandra. The friendship that outlasted the lust is now out in the open with her boyfriend.

If you have crossed the line and are engaged in a full-fledged emotional affair, your relationship still has a fighting chance. According to Peggy Vaughan, 70 percent of couples seeking help after an infidelity do stay together -- if they sincerely want to.

"Surviving infidelity is not about what happened and why," says Vaughan. "It's about how you respond to it together. You must decide: Are we going to let this destroy us, or make us stronger?"

Positive steps you can take:

1. Take responsibility. "You didn't screw up because of something he did; you screwed up because you screwed up," says Sharyn Wolf, author of How to Stay Lovers for Life. Address overarching relationship issues separately, later.

2. Offer a sense of security. "Give him what he needs to feel safe," says Wolf. If he wants you to cut off contact with the interloper, or come straight home from work for now, you must say yes.

3. Be patient. He may be cool one day, furious the next. "The perpetrator has to become the healer," says Vaughan.

The temptation to stray may be only a matter of distraction by work or children, and inattention to each other. When you confront the issue, "The honesty and commitment you once just assumed were there are now affirmed openly," says Vaughan. It's a painful -- but worthwhile -- process, she says: "Sometimes you don't realize what you have till you almost lose it."

Awful Banana Choc

Thought it looks inviting, but Nestle's banana choc ice-cream tastes awful actually. And I mean, awfully awfully awful!

Anyone wants sample? (Mel trying to get rid of it!!!) Bah! Seriously, no harm trying it not. It smells like rubber, tastes like chemical. Gonna dispose off the entire tub after letting sis try it! MUahahahaha.

Golden Sight

Thanks to the backyard neighbour whose house is currently undergoing construction, the roof is knocked down, I could see KLCC and KL Tower clearly from my room now!

Discovered the view on Sunday 24th July, 5am. Really beautiful, especially when the morning has not broken, when only cricket's chirping is heard, seriously!

Knowing how to wind down oneself by enjoying/appreciating the nature and environment is absolutely a good way to destress. A chance for the soul to getaway from fast pace of city life while the body's stuck in the stressful city, can't escape, no where to hide. Pathetic enlightenment? It's about perspective! I say, we oughta know when and how to enjoy what we have while we are able to... Life's short, always gotta grab the golden sights, the golden opportunities that we are blessed with.

Ah, am I crapping again? Hah. But it's true... The right time for everything...

Revision in the Breeze

It is true, that as we grow through different stages of life, we see things differently. We expect things differently as we expect changes all the time, yet we are sometimes resistant to changes...

~~~~~.~~~~~
Went to KLCC park, sat at the pavement with IP notes, today's weather's good for outdoor. Dinner at the bench facing the fountain and the twin tower, continued to study in open air like I once often did, was very enjoyable and productive. A really nice place to spend the entire afternoon alone. A round of fast walk at dusk made the noon perfect.
The passion for places of nature remains. Always inspiring and relaxing to be in natural attractions like parks.
Enjoyable Dinner Alone
Goreng pisang and lekor for dinner
So hungry and lonely
(Damn, I really hate lonely meals especially when I'm this hungry)
Empty house still
Decided to pull over at the hilltop
Evening 6.40, windy day
Children playing, youngsters dating
Further away, vehicles at the highway seemed moving from trees to trees
Even further, KLCC, KL Tower, and Maybank among other landmarks standing tall
What feelings does it yield
Gazing at the entire city in golden waves
Something stand firmly under the clear blue sky
Something sway as the wind blows
The nature amazes me
Stunned by its beauty
I am melted and speechless
Wonderful weather, beautiful evenig, peaceful?
I would have loved the warm breeze kissing me all over
I would have loved to swing myself, blended and flying in the air
I would have loved to hear the children shouts happily
I would have loved to walk along the tiled path circling the playground
Only if this area has tighter security
Perhaps it's just me, always feeling insecured
Remained in my baby Kelisa
Sweet memories dashing like tides
Yesterday when we were so young
We created magic everywhere we go
We laughed, we hugged, we spoke, we kissed
We made perfect memories
And perfect are the memories because we shared
Becaused we loved
Because we are still loved :)
Evening 7.00, dusk sets in
Time to head home
Home sweet home
Where the heart feels safe
Oh, sing, Norah, sing
The Long Day is Over
Mel's home, refreshed and inpsired
Love me tender
Come away with me...
p/s I think I am a romantic person in a practical way :p Glad to be able to keep love and feelings alive the safe way!
Special dedication to the few special souls who wrote/writes exciting chapters of my life, thank you for being here with me :)
Marketing to Women 2005
Women may account for as much as 80% of all consumer purchases and are the target group for the majority of all advertising. So it is legitimate to ask why it should be necessary to treat them as special in some way.
The Ugliest Reality Show
What is beautiful? Kindness or flawless skin?
Be part of 8TV's new reality TV show in search of real beauty.
If you feel that you or someone you know is truly beautiful both inside and out, then come and be a part of 8TV's hot new reality show. The search for Malaysia's Most Beautiful woman who shines with inner and outer beauty has begun.
Open to women of all personalities, shapes and sizes. Ages 18 and above. ...
I do agree with unwantedkid and oglmy, what a disgusting idea is this?! Searches for the strongest, the fastest, the most wanted girl/guy are bad enough, this is worse. So what if biz's bad, competition's tough in TV entertainment industry? Just because people are doing it, oh, it's revenue-generating, why don't we? What the black!!
Reality show in search for the most beautiful woman? The word most suggests unnecessary comparisons, we know reality show = unhealthy competition = show where individuals unmask their ugliest sides in public. It's worst than masturbating in public, for goodness sake! Keep your weaknesses to yourselves, desperados/wannabes, who cares!
Don't get me wrong. There are many true beauties around us, easily more than a handful. And these people really deserve to be well-treated and acknowledged, not embarrassed by signing them up for these stupid shows. Don't be shallow, do something more meaningly and practical, like simply sharing life with them.
In fact true beauties don't care if they are given any ridiculous titles. True beauties don't need to prove anything to anyone. True beauty lies within ourselves, it doesn't need to be compared with or judged by.
Pot of Gold for Heroes
I have no working experience, my resume is as white as tissue paper, but I do read, I observe, I talk to people with experience. They say, a wise man learns from his mistakes, but a wiser man learns from others'! hehe..
Hey, life is really all about perspectives (just like tissue paper, you say it's soft but i say it's flexible and foldable). Don't let disappointments bring us down, life's full of black by nature, we could mould it to anything shape we want - rot or rock on, that's what makes everybody's life different. Gotta learn to be strong, learn to wipe our own tears (yes, with tissue paper, or toilet roll), swallow blames and shames, then fight thru black again. A true winner's someone who lost in a match but dare to face it with strength, courage and hope. Heroes rise and fall - everything falls anyway coz nothing's eternal, but at least heroes had their glory of rises. so we should actually be thankful to failures and welcome them if they're unavoidable, coz they want us to learn (to win), what to do, can't say no right?
Never let a broken dream destroy the others, you just never know - beneath the broken piece lies greater fortunes - only if you have faith, as long as you dig on, you'll find the pot of gold!
Oh pot of god. Here's a dedication to you, ahmad, Akon's Pot of Gold. Go download :) Hope you'll always have strength and courage to fight against black!
All the best from same_old_mel
"looking forward to the (shameful) completion of degree (aka August!)"
"thanks for keeping me as a friend"
p/s black being my new way of vulgar, is really gaining popularity (within myself). what? hypocrite? yeah, whatever.
Akon - Pot of Gold
Life come and go
So let the history be too
We're all out here
Hustlin' to make our way
And while you're stumblin' and fallin' (stumblin' and fallin')
Why don't you pick yourself up now (pick yourself up now)
You see we all out here
Working day by day
You soon lose track of which way is up when your always being put down (being put down)
You gotta be strong and do what you feel in your heart
Regardless of who's around (regardless of who's around)
I know it might seem bold
But thats all we have (all we have)
Many centuries and we're steady gettin old
But you know to what we never had
How can we work it out
On that day when its time to share the god at the end of the rainbow (share the gold)
How can we work it out
When good and evil be
The day you kiss this fate
Cause it will soon come
How can we work it out
On that day when its time to share the god at the end of the rainbow (that pot of gold)
How can we work it out
When good and evil be
The day you kiss this fate
Cause it will soon come (yeah)
Tropicana Ice-Cream
Nestle has manufactured Tropicana ice-cream that comes in 2l tub finally! Not as nice as Tropicana in stick, but then I can eat it all day and it's only RM5.99 now! *lick* Go get yourselves a tub of Tropicana now!
The banana choc flavor looks inviting too...
Pleasant Surprise!
Dear Henry
Thank you for keeping in touch, what a pleasant surprise! More so knowing you found out my blog and been visiting it (or you just sweet-talk?! hmm *raise right eyebrow* nvm!) Just don't start to black too much before it becomes a blacking bad habit! Bleh.
:) 4 years flew by eh? Can't remember (see I'm REALLY getting old and forgetful and lazy) hehe. Glad we shared some time together 4 years back. Good to know that you're still feeling young at heart, I mean that should be the way, don't be like me or think like I do. I talk (or rather babble) like an old lady too much these days, haha. Anyway, 'tis nice to hear from you again.
Thanks a million for your offer in lending a hand, just your enthusiasm and offer are touching enough. Thanks for your encouragement.
Don't stress yourself too much at work ok. Money's meant to be something we use to afford luxuries and fun for better living. Once you have it, it's just a matter of figures. Once it's nothing more than figure, you know it's time to go after something more exciting, much more worthy, something money can't buy, something people can't take away, something you don't have to ever worry of losing in life, that's my opinion (as an old lady, thank you very much :p)
Keep up the contentment, hardworking, and all other good qualities in you! Congratulations on all your achievements, looking forward to hear more of those from you :) Take care, ya.
Best regards
Mel
p/s Think I seem to be attracted to tummies all the time, *wink wink* hehe. No it's not true. (yes, mel can be REALLY talkative!)
p/s2 think you over-achieved your research eh. I remember the stat says thousand seven one something, now it's 1818?? The amount of work you do within a night, siao ar! :p
Dyslexia Mel?
I hope I'm not being paranoid but I think I have slight Dyslexia. I read quite a bit about it before but never linked myself to it but the idea strikes me when I reopen some documents I composed and received this afternoon.
'Thanku' was read as 'Tuanku', and now that I become panic, I remember I always mix up some words and meanings, like 'mow the lawn' would be said as 'lawn the mow', 解剖 was always read as 剖解, 隐私 was always read as 私隐, probably there are more. Black, and I was laughing at Crayon Shin Chan when he misread 太阳 for 阳太! Oh no, we're on the same boat!
Self help after finishing degree, Mel! See doctor? Oh there's a Dyslexia center in Malaysia, now I remember. Nvm, it's not the end of it. Look up to Tom Cruise and many more great people who suffered from Dyslexia. Hehe.
About Infidelity
Infertility and infidelity push Brent and Anna to test the limits of their marriage
Random thoughts on marriage and fidelity.
My parents' marriage are not perfect in the sense that they do fight. Even when I was young I heard them argue, but I also saw them kiss and hug. Dad's hot-tempered, mom's usually timid. There are times when all of us get so hurt and upset when dad let his temper take control. But dad was always faithful to mom and thus "marriage" and "forever" are always synonyms in my dictionary. It most probably would not be a smooth sail, waves would seem fierce, and we've to always be on the look out for pirates and icebergs, but the ship will never capsize if two people truly show love and responsibilities for each other. Uncles and aunties around us, their marriages sail the same way - only two persons on-board, but rarely the rich couples'. Used to look forward to putting on those wedding gowns, I've always wanted to be married by 26, have kids by 28! :p
Then I grew up, I fall in love, I fall out of love. I hear more real cases, sad cases. People stray, with or without kids, they divorce. Marriage seems scary as the divorce rates among couples inflats tremendously. No love, nobody, no longer seems strong enough for temptations. I didn't know what to believe, I begun to lost hope and faith in almost everything, everyone, including myself. So what if there was love? It can dissolve into the air. So what if there were commitments and promises? It can be broken. So what if there were responsibilities? It can be voided. Thinking this way, I lived in pain and anxiety.
It was a big NO-NO for me if my husband requests for a second chance if he was ever found cheated - the moment he has the thought of straying, he should have forseen the consequences already. I wouldn't cared - if he didn't think about the kids when he strayed or have the thought of having an affair, he doesn't really love them thus they don't need him. On another matter, what if the problem lies with my husband's temper's, being as bad as my dad's? Divorce him even if I have kids? Divorce is just a lazy way of avoiding the problem, you said.
My values and thinking change a lot as I grow older. I see myself mature (yes, physically as well!) Not that I'm agreeable/acceptable to infidelity now though. But of my views on marriage - like a blind man after cornea correction, he starts to perceive what the world is - I see lights (hope) blinking again. The theory of computer vision learning illustrates what I think I'd likely do - learn, re-learn, and re-learn, until the subject of learning reaches a steady state of development(similar to the Markov's process? Hehe.)
The day when my thinking on second chance, on fidelity, on love, on sex, on marriage and divorce are steadily developed, that's the day I'm all set for marriage, have my own family, able to raise my own kids and break free from the protection of my parents (into someone else's arms? Ha!)
Just an expression of gratitude for those who had guided me, shared and been with me along my path of growth from little girl to youth and now to womanhood, thank you for being there for me/with me. We made chapters in each other's lifebooks (Fujitsu merh! :p), happy aren't we? To those whom we shared unhappy experiences, those who stabbed me and whom I've stabbed, I'm thankful for your presense as well, lar!! Hehe...
Sorry, Lovey
Dear Lovey
I'm sorry I said something that hurts so much. I was really frustrated when I couldn't get your attention. I'm confused of our relationship at times when you give me little response. Sorry for being demanding, but I always try to be understanding, although sometimes I may not have done enough.
It's sweet to know that you're caring, loving, forgiving and patient with me. I know I could not ask for more. So I give my very best in everything I do in this relationship to keep myself close to you while sparing you private time, space and privacy, and I hope I've been sparing enough. I'd continue to treasure your patience and guidance along the way, I hope it's a road without an end.
Thank you for everything.
Fighting Vulgarness
1. *speaking in piglish* Hereby proposed to myself to start a lil' reference booklet, called Classic!. Vic, I grant you the honor to the first two entries with "tat is piggg???????" and "hope i am the pig"! simply due to the fact that a pig wish to be the pig! You have it, man, I mean, piggy. Haha. Kidding!
2. The cold war's still on. counting day 11. my heart's never locked, my mouth's never zipped this long, a record indeed! see lar, two stubborn shitholes! i mean, 1*beep*2!
3. (special dedication to chang hao!, hehe)
thought chang hao's blog was cool, so left a message on the tagboard. who knows it has the function of filtering vulgar words! Words like shit, asshole, poop, dick, shithole, shitholes, pussy, bitch, bastard are all sensored! Even disallow the plural of those words! And words containing those combo of alphabets are also filtered, like dickens and Dickens! All are ridiculously replaced by 1*beep*2. What's left with the fun of being real me? *demotivated* oh well, time to be more refined with words? Ah, must remember never to name my child Dicky, Dickson or marry someone by the surname Dickens ("Mr/Mrs Charles 1*beep*2", for example, is just sad wei!)
But then again, here's a thought of the day - the algorithm of the filter program, hehe, something like this? Hah!
Begin: FILTER_VULGAR
1. Convert all letters in message to lowercase
2. Compare wOrD against the no-no list
3. If wOrD has no-no word in it,
then print "1*beep*2"
Pop Jazz Filled the Morning Air
Norah Jones the queen! The beginning of my fav Come Away with Me reminds me of the night when I first saw him play for Good Friday practice. (And then on Good Friday, he wore that black silky suit, looked great with just lil' effort. Wow!)
Say No to Pre-Marital Sex
Camera Fun
Not sure where came the courage that I did this. This is actually one of the very rare moments when I'm not camera shy, hehe. Think I'm really bored and silly!
树。生命的脆弱。
树,只要有阳光和雨水即能茁壮成长;
春夏秋冬,屹立不动。
一只小小白蚁却能将之毁。
生命之脆弱,来去无兆。。。
还是得向蚁辈致敬、学习。
Omigod, what's wrong with me, what's with the obsession of ants?! Ha :p
Met with Shirley today. Sara where are you and how are you?
心悸
心悸,有时候是因为不安,有时因为紧张,有时因体弱,有时因太挂念你,有时因想太多、顾虑太多。
心悸的时候,心跳不规律,双颊发热,手心不停冒汗,当下会有自损自毁的念头,十分不好受。
心悸过后,心情平伏下来,时常逃不了后悔与自责。
你说,别想太多,要担心是白担心。
我听话,我学习爱自己、照顾自己。
谢谢你,让我感受各种心情与领悟。
还是好紧张,希望一切安好。
Small World
1. I always know that the world's small, but it never really felt this small! I was surprised to find some of Matt's friends in your friendster list. Today you just showed me the new definition of small world. Guess who I saw today, Matt? Celina. Hehe. Wonder if you know any of my friends other than Louisa and Pauline...
2. Notice I feel depress and insecure for no reasons the moment the sun sets. Could it be the sky darkens? Could it be the weather coolen? Could it be me being alone at (dusk) this moment? Proven I'm a morning person.
3. On our way home after sending sis, Hitz was playing Hoobastank's The Reason and mom sang along. Wah, popnya momku...
4. I think, I think and I think. You image appears, appears and appears. No matter which angle you appeared on my mind, I still find you very macho and attractive, dude! I recalled how you were standing among your friends and all other strangers, you stood out shimmering. Somehow since young I could just form an image in my head being able to see things/people that I like very much in the limelight. Wah, leng-chainya, lovey! Hehehe. And you're still on my mind...
Live Like You Were Dying
Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying
He said I was in my early forties, with a lot of life before me
And one moment came that stopped me on a dime
I spent most of the next days, looking at the x-rays
Talking bout' the options and talking bout' sweet times.
I asked him when it sank in, that this might really be the real end
How's it hit 'cha when you get that kind of news?
Man what did ya do?
He said
I went skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denyin'
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin'
He said I was finally the husband, that most the time I wasn't
And I became a friend, a friend would like to have
And all of a sudden goin' fishin, wasn't such an imposition
And I went three times that year I lost my dad
Well I finally read the good book, and I took a good long hard look
At what I'd do if I could do it all again
And then
Bridge
Like tomorrow was the end
And ya got eternity to think about what to do with it
What should you do with it
What can I do with it
What would I do with it
Skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And man I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I watched an eagle as it was flyin'
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin'
Beautiful. We should do this as often as we can. Do whatever and be honest with ourselves coz we are responsible for our deeds. No blame, no shame, no hymm.
Untitled
i used to jump a lot
when i'm excited or bored
you liked seeing me jump cheerfully
then we would jump together becoz i insist that you do with me
i used to scream a lot
when i'm angry or scared or overjoyed
you would listen to me whine
then we would both be quiet for awhile
i used to loaf around a lot
you'd blame me for not calling you along
we would then chat and chat and chat for hours
then we would go disappear for months or years
i think of you a lot
when i'm stressed or depressed or happy or come across things you liked
but we've grown up and are no longer as free as we used to be
but i still think of you a lot
you you you you you
the word that runs on my mind
the picture stored so well in my memory
could be dusty, color faded, but we'd still be us
i miss you
i miss you
i still miss you
i really miss you
